Word of the Week...3

Canard

Say it cah nard; accent on the second syllable.

Literally in French a canard is a duck. In English (the language I speak), canard is a false or unfounded report or story; a groundless rumor or belief. Also a canard can be an airplane with horizontal stabilizing and control surfaces in front of the supporting surface.

Word of the Week...2

Jeremiad

Say it in 4 syllables: je re mi ad
Accent on the third syllable.

It means a prolonged lamentation or complaint also a cautionary or angry harangue.

In the current economy, we should all be able to use it, own it.

Word of the Week...

Every week, a new word...you know the drill...use it, claim it.

If I love a word, it's as much for its sound as its meaning. Case in point:

Jejune

Pronunciation: \ji-ˈjün\

1 : lacking nutritive value as jejune diets
2 : devoid of significance or interest : dull as jejune lectures
3 : juvenile , puerile as jejune reflections on life and art
